GOOGLE INTRODUCED NEW TOOLS TO HELP LIMIT THE SPREAD OF MISINFORMATION ONLINE

In an effort to combat misinformation online and limit the reach of false reports, Google has provided a new overview of its evolving efforts in partnership with fact-checking partners. Google has made significant upgrades to its Search engine and alerts in order to help users better understand the sources they are connecting with for updates.

Google will now provide you with more information about news stories. First, Google is adding a notice on evolving and unverified news stories which will alert searchers that the facts are still being verified. For instance, it will have tips to help users evaluate information online by reminding them of the importance of relying on trustworthy sources. Prompts like this are often all that’s needed to get users to take a moment of pause for clarity such, before spreading false narratives and misinformation.

Google has also included a new ‚Highly Cited‘ label that lets users find the source information for major news stories. A new label will be launched for search result previews, and it is eligible for anything from local news stories, interviews, announcements, and even press releases. More information about the topic or item in question can also be found when clicking on the „rapidly evolving topics“ or „About this Result“ notifications within Search.

Google hopes that its highly cited label will help to highlight original reporting and is also helpful for finding press releases. This will give you direct access to companies. Google’s continued support of various fact-checking programs is highlighted. Their Google News Initiative, for example, has helped to enhance the expertise available to examine and verify online information.

LINKEDIN IS ROLLING OUT A SUITE OF NEW TOOLS FOR CREATORS, INCLUDING IMPROVED CONTENT ANALYTICS AND UPDATES TO PROFILE VIDEO OPTIONS

LinkedIn has released some new features for creators, including improved analytics tools, better video capabilities on profiles and newsletters, and a bell to notify you when there are updates available. First, LinkedIn is adding more insights to its Creator Mode tools so that creators can plan and optimize their on-platform content strategy.

As LinkedIn explains:

“From total impression numbers, to engagement statistics, creators can see what’s working and where they may want to change their content strategy.”

The new Creator Mode stats will give you a more extensive overview of your content performance, enabling you to quickly figure out what’s resonating and what isn’t with your LinkedIn audience.

LinkedIn is always seeking to improve, and these new insights options could help you strategize better in the app. LinkedIn also wants to help creators build their audience more with improved profile video tools and metrics for profile videos.

A ‘Profile Video’ will now appear on feeds and in search. This way, people who visit your profile page can learn more about you and watch your video.

LinkedIn is adding a „Subscribe Bell“, which enables creators‘ audiences to get alerts whenever they share anything new, while it’s also including the capacity for creators to show their Newsletter in the „Featured“ section of their profiles.

YOUTUBE HAS ANNOUNCED PLANS TO OFFER A PODCAST PLATFORM

YouTube is planning to more directly integrate podcasts into its platform, with a new leaked pitch deck providing insight. It is currently developing a new podcast discovery home within its app.

YouTube would offer podcasters the ability to feed their audio shows via RSS and provide them with analytics, ads, and more. Its decision is to invest in audio may seem somewhat unusual, but it perfectly aligns with the video platform’s broader vision of creating a more comprehensive home for creators.

Popular YouTubers now have their own podcasts, which they share to the platform via in-studio video clips. This essentially means that YouTube hosts a lot of audio content either way.

YouTube’s newest feature is also one that many people have been asking for: it offers a way to listen to YouTube content without watching the video.

So far, YouTube’s plans for its own podcast haven’t been announced. But it hired a podcast executive to lead the efforts and has given deals to popular podcasters so that they can film episodes of their shows there.

TIKTOK HAS JUST ANNOUNCED THAT IT IS ADDING A NEW FEATURE CALLED GIF "LIBRARY" TO HELP USERS MAKE THEIR VIDEOS MORE CREATIVE

TikTok has added a new content creation option, the GIF library. This enables users to select from one of the largest animated libraries available and integrate it into their videos for enhanced engagement.

The new GIPHY integration gives users the ability to add GIFs to their videos, letting them film reactions, and responses, create scenes, and more.

It’s a good addition to TikTok, especially given the popularity of reaction videos. With its Duet feature, users can add their own take on trending clips!

Posting on TikTok is easy with Duet. It allows you to share videos on the app in a split-screen format that plays simultaneously.

As TikTok explains:

“We hope to further expand Library to include additional content sources, audio and sounds, text templates, creator content, and more, as we continue to innovate and spark creativity for our community.”

META ANNOUNCES THE FIRST CONVERSATIONS BUSINESS MESSAGING EVENT

Meta announced the launch of its „Conversations“ business messaging event, which will provide marketers with insights on how to create conversations and reach their audience.

This is the perfect place to hear all about its latest innovations and upcoming upgrades for its messaging platforms, which together have over two billion users.

Meta reports:

“Every week, more than one billion users connect with a business account across our messaging services, including WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram Direct—and we expect this number to continue growing as people look to have more convenient and personal conversations.”

At the Conversations conference, you get a taste of all things new and exciting. You’ll see product updates like never before; technical deep-dives for developers; feature demonstrations from experts with years of experience in their fields; panels that address some tough topics head-on; and more!
